Barnabas Mtelevu is a seasoned development professional with over ten (10) years of experience in program and project management. He is an enthusiastic and energetic program manager with a proven track record of successfully leading complex development programs. Currently, he serves as the Senior Project Manager for the Her Money, Her Life and Advancing Women Collective Enterprises in Markets projects at CARE Tanzania. He is passionate about transforming communities and empowering women and girls to reach their full potential in all spheres of life.
Barnabas brings extensive experience in Agricultural Value Chain Development, Renewable Energy, Business Development Services (BDS), and Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development. Prior to joining CARE Tanzania, he worked with GVEP International as the Tanzania Business Development Services (BDS) Coordinator.
He holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Project Planning, Management, and Community Development from the University of Dodoma (UDOM).
Barnabas is currently pursuing the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI). He is also a Certified MEAL DPro practitioner through the Humanitarian Leadership Academy and a Certified Entrepreneur through the Empowered Entrepreneur Program at Johns Hopkins University. In addition, he was selected as a first-cohort nominee for the CARE International Compass Leadership Program, through which he is undertaking leadership training with FranklinCovey.
In 2018, Barnabas represented Tanzania at the Youth Unleash Innovation Lab in Singapore, where young leaders collaborated to develop innovative solutions for achieving the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He has also authored and contributed to various publications on women’s economic empowerment, economic growth, and community economic development, which have been published in journals and online platforms.
