CARE Tanzania is a Non-Governmental Organization established in 1994 and registered under Non -Governmental Organization Act, No. 24 of 2002 with a registration number I-NGO/R1/00869. CARE commenced its works in Tanzania in 1994 responding to the influx of refugees in North-West Tanzania because of the genocide crisis in Rwanda.

This story highlights how CARE Tanzania’s Male Champions model in Iringa is helping communities transform traditional social norms. Through training provided by CARE, the Police Gender Desk, and community welfare officers, selected men in the community including Mr. John Msigwa who learned the importance of shared household responsibilities, respectful relationships, and equality for women and girls.
