Lilian Mkusa is a Project Manager at CARE Tanzania with over 13 years of experience in project management, women’s economic empowerment, gender equality, and community resilience. She has extensive expertise in designing and implementing development programs that promote sustainable livelihoods, strengthen household resilience, and advance social and economic inclusion.
Currently, Lilian leads the Shamba Darasa Imara na Ustadi (SADIFU) Project in the Iringa and Njombe regions, where she oversees interventions aimed at enhancing climate resilience, improving food security, promoting women’s empowerment, and strengthening sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through her leadership, the project applies innovative and community-centered approaches, including the Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS), Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), and the Social Analysis and Action (SAA) methodology to support lasting and transformative change within communities.
Lilian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Dar es Salaam and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Rural Development at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). She is recognized for her commitment to empowering vulnerable populations, fostering gender equality, and delivering impactful development programs that improve the well-being and resilience of communities.
