Musa Ndunguru is the Senior Award and Sub-Award Manager at CARE International in Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam. In this role, he leads the Country Office’s award and sub-award management function and has been a member of the Senior Management Team since 2015.
He brings over ten years of experience in finance, grants, and award management across both local and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Musa began his career as an Accountant with the Iringa Development of Youth, Disabled and Children Care (IDYDC), a local Tanzanian NGO. He joined CARE International in Tanzania in October 2014 as a Sub-Award Officer and subsequently advanced to the positions of Sub-Award Manager and Senior Award and Sub-Award Manager, a role he assumed in January 2019. From 2022 to 2025, he also served as a Temporary Duty (TDY) Regional Business Analyst for CARE’s Southern Africa Regional Office.
Over the past five years, Musa has managed multi-million-dollar annual portfolios and overseen partnerships with more than 28 implementing organizations. He has contributed significantly to the mobilization and management of major awards funded by leading bilateral, multilateral, and philanthropic donors. His expertise includes donor compliance, audit management and response, sub-award design and close-out, budgeting and variance analysis, risk management, and capacity building for both CARE and partner organization finance teams.
Musa holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is currently pursuing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T) qualification through the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Amity University.
