CARE Tanzania recently held its 2024 annual retreat from July 01-05 in Tanga, bringing together staff from across the country to reflect on the year’s achievements and plan for the future. The retreat focused on evaluating the first year of implementing our five-year strategic plan, celebrating key successes, and strengthening team bonds through various activities. It marked a pivotal moment in our journey to enhance our impact on women, girls, and communities across Tanzania

On July 01-05, 2024, CARE Tanzania held its annual retreat in Tanga to mark the close of Fiscal Year 2024. The retreat brought together all CARE Tanzania staff from various regions, including Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Dar es Salaam, and Tanga, to reflect on the year’s achievements, plan strategically for the future, and strengthen bonds as a team.

During the retreat, the team reviewed its first year of implementing the five-year strategic plan launched in 2023, highlighting key successes and identifying areas for growth. The discussions focused on enhancing our impact on the communities CARE serves, with a particular focus on empowering women and girls.

The retreat also included several activities, such as visiting the Innovating Cashew Value Chain project participants in Mkinga to observe value addition in the cashew industry, exploring the natural limestone attractions of the Amboni Caves, and participating in team-building exercises that promoted teamwork, resilience, and trust among staff.

In Fiscal Year 2024, CARE Tanzania made significant strides, receiving multiple awards and certificates from government ministries and institutions, including the Tea Board of Tanzania and the Cashew Board of Tanzania. We also celebrated the launch of tea and cashew good agricultural practices training manuals, the integration of the Farmer Field and Business Schools (FFBS) model into Sokoine University of Agriculture, the opening of the first specialty tea demonstration factory in Sakare, Korogwe, and the hosting of the CARE Global Leadership Meeting.

Looking ahead, there is still much to be done. Through our 2023–2028 strategic plan, we aim to reach more individuals by focusing on women’s economic justice, gender equality, the right to health, the right to food, water, and nutrition, climate justice, and crisis preparedness and response.
