Food, Water and Nutrition

CARE aims in provision of farming techniques, marketing and nutritional education to enhance right to food, water and nutrition.

Around 45% of death among children under 5 years of age are linked to under nutrition. These mostly occur in low and middle income countries like Tanzania. According to the united nations World Food Programme, in 2020 approximately 2.7 million children under the age of five in Tanzania were estimated to be stunted (chronically malnourished), while around 385,000 children in the country suffered from wasting (acute malnutrition).

An estimate of two billion people worldwide do not have regular access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food. Around 25% of global population does not have clean water, and 1.7 billion people do not have adequate sanitation, such as private toilets or latrines.

We as CARE Tanzania aims at providing modern farming techniques, improving access to markets, land and resources, promoting nutritional education and public awareness that will empower rural communities in our country to eradicate this challenge ( wholistic approach consideration – integrating).
