Her Money, Her Life project works to scale initiatives aimed at increasing independence and economic opportunities for women farmers to boost quality, quantity and diversification in Tanzania’s tea sub-sector. In collaboration with the private-sector partner Kazi Yetu and other key partners in the tea, CARE works to incentivize and support women farmers to collectively invest in equipment, infrastructure, machinery, inputs and tools for growth. The project demonstrates the tremendous potential to support women farmers in Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) and Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (AMCOS) to achieve several shared goals, including creating meaningful access to markets. participating in all stages of the tea, herbs and spices value chains from production, to processing, to marketing; increasing incomes through collective investment in high potential agri-business enterprises and achieving decision-making authority through economic autonomy.
