Pay and Benefits

Annual leave
Full-time employees are entitled to 18 days annual leave upon completion of each 12 months service with monthly pro-rate calculation. Annual leave increases by one day for every three years continuous service. Annual leave is accrued during maternity/adoption leave. On probation employees are entitled to pro-rate entitlement which is equal to 1.5 days for each full month of service.

Pension Scheme and National Social Security Fund
We operate auto-enrolment for all staff below the age of 60 into our pension scheme with Tanzania National Social Security Fund. Employees below the age of 60 enrolled into the scheme with 2% contribution from employer and 2% from employees, as default. The rate of the contribution will be following the standard rate of the National Social Security Fund. Employees are entitled to the Employment Injury Scheme during working hours and Health Insurance Scheme for 24 hours with no additional contribution or age limit.

Group Life Insurance
We enroll all our employees into our Group Life Insurance scheme from their first day of employment, at no extra cost to them.

Personal Accident, Health Insurance and Medical Checkup
Personal Accident, Health Insurance, and Medical Checkup package for all contracted employees. Personal Accident insurance covers disability, injury, and death for the employee only. Health Insurance is for the employee and qualified dependents including spouse and children from fourteen days old to twenty-five years of age. Through this plan, employees can also get access to the 24/7 free and confidential employee assistance helpline (counselling and legal).

Salary Advance
In case of emergency, employees with eligible criteria will be able to request salary advance and the repayment can be made at least within three months after the request.

Month Salary
Employees who have worked for twelve consecutive months are entitled to a 13th month salary equivalent to one month’s basic salary calculated on the March salary amount. Employees who have worked with CARE less than twelve consecutive months are entitled to a pro-rata amount.

Medical Assistance
CARE Tanzania provides a salary supplement of $17 per month to each employee intended for out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Provident Fund
CARE Tanzania contributes to the Provident Fund for all contracted employees. It is a long-term benefit to employee’s and their dependents and can be accessed every five years or upon separation from CARE.

Family-friendly policies
We offer a range of family-friendly policies with enhanced entitlements, including maternity/adoption policy and leave, sick leave, nursing leave paternity leave policy, special leave, study leave, time off in lieu, etc.

Flexible Working Arrangements
To improve employee’s work-life balance, CARE Tanzania has developed a flexible working arrangement policy. This will assist CARE Tanzania employees to attend to their personal needs; allow for off-peak travel; and to have more flexibility for childcare.
